I've been going to JV Cafe since I was a little girl. It was always a stopping place during road trips with my Grandparents back in the 70s. The last time I visited, I was a grown-up and it brought back so many good memories. Plus, there's the bacon cheeseburger. BEST EVER. Can't wait for my road trip that's coming up next week...JV Cafe is on my itinerary still.

Typical small-town burger joint in the middle of NOWHERE. And I mean, NOWHERE! We were passing thru on our way from Boise to Winnemucca, and anyone who's ever driven that desolate route knows there's not much in the way of food. We wanted to try the Basque place here in town but it was closed at lunchtime. So we came here. I had a cheeseburger and tater tots, with a Coke. Classic American meal, ya can't fuck it up. Waitress was friendly enough, food was fine, restroom was clean, ambiance was sort of 1950s rancher cafeteria chic. Nothing wrong with it, but if passing thru I would probably not stop here again -- the menu is too limited. Just burgers and patty melts and the like, unless you're in for breakfast.

The menu is very simple but easy to pick from. We ordered a breakfast sandwich, cheeseburger, and 2 orders of chicken strips. The food was hot and seemed fresh. The café is small but clean and bright. I didn't like getting our check moments after our food was served to us. We were going to order pie but felt like we were expected to leave because our ticket was given to us...felt a little like we were not welcomed to stay longer.

I stopped by this place while I was traveling through Oregon. Thought to myself... Here's a cute little place, lets give it a try. Food was not very good. Had a cheeseburger, too greasy. I agree with the other yelper that disliked the fact that I got my food and subsequently got my check. Way to make a guy feel welcome. If you want mediocre food and not so good service... here's your place.

What a gross supper we had 9-23-14. Gross finger steak and tator tots. the young waitress was pleasant but the middle aged woman cook greeted us with a "stare". Oh well, I ate there 9 years ago and had a great lunch but I will not return......

Super friendly, good food, and free wi-fi. :) We were pleased for lunch as we passed through town. Got a milkshake to go, too. I had fish & chips with salad (no chips), salads are iceberg but fresh. Fish reminded me in appearance of a fish-stick but it was flaky, good, and not greasy. Hubby had a BLT with the thickest slabs of "B" we've ever seen. Little one had pb&j, reminiscent of what you'd make at home. Comfortable stop on a long drive.

In the midst of the desolate landscape that is southeastern Oregon, there is a small oasis of green called Jordan Valley. Within that oasis, I found the perfect breakfast. This would be an easy place to overlook when driving down US-95 between Oregon and Winnemucca. We were only able to find this wonderful breakfast on the recommendation of some friendly area residents that we ate dinner with at the Martin Hotel in Winnemucca. I had the chorizo sausage, which came with eggs, toast and my choice of hash browns. The chorizo was served in two whole large sausages and was delicious. My wife had the "Texas Toast" or French Toast, which she said was very good. Coffee was also very good. My wife tried a little of my chorizo and said it was "so good that even the burp afterwards tasted good!" I don't know if I'll ever be traveling this way again, but if I am, I know where I'll have my breakfast.

Nothing around for miles and thus was a welcome oasis! Yummy French toast and nice staff.
